Texas Holdem Rules

Author: Ken Marlborough

Texas Holdem poker does not adhere to any universal or standard set of rules. But nonetheless, here are some rules that one of the most reliable sources for Texas Holdem Game Rules prescribes. This group meets mainly to update and elaborate the rules for poker.

Some of the general rules go as follows: Games in the United States should use only the traditional English language at the table. A player must step away from the table when he wants to use a cellular phone or any similar communication instrument. He must not leave a cell phone, highly reflective item, a recording instrument, or camera on the table. A player must not discuss play with the other players or the spectators during the hand.

Players have to make sure that all chips are clearly visible at all times, and players must not exchange chips for any reason. Another player can make a call against a player who is taking an unreasonable amount of time to decide. The hand goes dead if the player has not acted on his hand by the time the countdown is over

If, during an initial deal, an error on the part of the dealer exposes a pocket card, the game must be discarded immediately as a misdeal. Of course, the player who was responsible for the misdeal must bear the penalty. Verbal declarations always get importance during the betting process. Action out of turn is not taken lightly, and any intention to act out of turn may result in a penalty. After the first motion, no subsequent betting motions should be considered.

Finally, the coordinator of the tournament has the exclusive authority to cancel or alter any event, keeping in mind the best interest of the players and the game. The theoretical interpretation of the rules may be ignored when faced with unusual circumstances.
