For the 132nd edition of the Run of the Roses on Saturday many may already have their picks butt, the six major Kentucky Derby preparation races winners are the favorite picks for the majority. Officially Barbaro, the winner of the Florida Derby, is expected to be the second choice when the post positions are drawn on Wednesday and Santa Anita Derby winner Brother Derek is expected to be both the morning-line and post-time favorite. A feature that is standing out on this year's Kentucky Derby horses is speed. We are going to have a field full of speed horses those that need to be on or near the lead. With all the speed that will be in the Kentucky Derby, it appears that for one of the favorites to hit the lead first he will need to back off the leaders in the early part of the race. The pure speed horses are Brother Derek, Sinister Minister and Sweetnorthernsaint. These three have shown that they absolutely need to be at the front.
